La semana pasada se presentó la nueva iniciativa CIIMA – UP4 (Centro de Investigación e Innovación en Movilidad Avanzada), financiada por el MITMA (Ministerio de Transportes, Movilidad y Agenda Urbana). CIIMA – UP4 surge de la colaboración entre las cuatro universidades politécnicas españolas: UPM, UPC, UPV y UPCT, el sector empresarial, y una estrecha colaboración con CARNET.
El evento tuvo lugar en el Global Mobility Call, celebrado en el IFEMA el jueves 26 de octubre de 2023. María José Rallo del Olmo, Secretaria General del MITMA, inauguró el evento destacando la contribución positiva de las cuatro universidades y CARNET al desarrollo de la iniciativa CIIMA-UP4. A continuación, Laia Pages, CEO de CARNET, presentó las propuestas de cada universidad, seguida por los representantes de las mismas: Pedro J. Navarro (UPCT), Andrés Monzón (UPM), Alfredo García (UPV) y Lluis Jofre-Roca (UPC).
La presentación técnica culminó con las reflexiones del Vicerrector de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Profesor Alberto Garrido, quien subrayó el papel fundamental desempeñado por las universidades en este proyecto.
Asimismo, su discurso de clausura, el Profesor Garrido enfatizó la primordial relevancia de la colaboración entre diversas disciplinas académicas y la sinergia crucial entre las universidades y el sector empresarial. Hizo hincapié en que esta colaboración es el motor que impulsa innovaciones en el campo de la movilidad, destacando la necesidad de una cooperación multidisciplinar para lograr avances significativos.
El objetivo de CIIMA-UP4 es crear un vínculo de colaboración entre las universidades y el sector industrial e institucional, que facilite dar respuestas a los retos en movilidad y transporte que nos plantea el siglo XXI.

Last week, the new CIIMA-UP4 initiative (Center for Research and Innovation in Advanced Mobility) was introduced, funded by the MITMA (Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda). CIIMA-UP4 is the result of collaboration among the four Spanish polytechnic universities: UPM, UPC, UPV, and UPCT, the business sector, and a close partnership with CARNET.
The event took place at the Global Mobility Call, held at IFEMA on Thursday, October 26, 2023. María José Rallo del Olmo, Secretary General of MITMA, inaugurated the event, highlighting the positive contribution of the four universities and CARNET to the development of the CIIMA-UP4 initiative. Following this, Laia Pages, CEO of CARNET, presented the proposals from each university, followed by their representatives: Pedro J. Navarro (UPCT), Andrés Monzón (UPM), Alfredo García (UPV), and Lluis Jofre-Roca (UPC).
The technical presentation concluded with reflections from the Vice Chancellor of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Alberto Garrido, who strongly emphasized the fundamental role played by universities in this project. Furthermore, in his closing speech, Mr. Garrido highlighted the paramount importance of collaboration between various academic disciplines and the crucial synergy between universities and the business sector. He stressed that this collaboration is the driving force behind innovations in the field of mobility, emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary cooperation to achieve significant advances.
The purpose of CIIMA-UP4 is to act as a connecting bridge between knowledge and the industrial and institutional sector, facilitating the ability to respond to the challenges in mobility and transportation that we face.
